Adopt a Beach: Our Responsibility for Protecting the Coast and Fighting Plastic Pollution

At Ecco Terra Bio (ETB), we feel a deep responsibility for protecting our environment and combating plastic pollution. That is why we are excited to launch our new initiative, “Adopt a Beach.” This program begins on the Asian shore of Istanbul, specifically in the Riva/Şile region. With sufficient volunteer support, we hope to expand this program to other regions such as Trabzon, İzmir, İzmit, Alanya, and Antalya, where we also have offices.

What is Ecco Terra Bio?

Ecco Terra Bio, also known as EcoTerraBio, is a team united by the mission to protect the natural beauty of our planet and work towards a sustainable future. Our name embodies the values of ecological balance, soil conservation, and the maintenance of biodiversity. We are committed to protecting our world and creating a more livable environment for future generations.

Eco: This part emphasizes our ecological responsibility and our respectful approach to the environment. We support sustainable lifestyles, green technologies, and waste reduction strategies to contribute to the preservation of ecosystems.

Terra: This symbolizes our commitment to the physical surface of the earth and our soil. We work on soil conservation, raising awareness about land use, and preventing deforestation to protect the health of our planet.

Bio: This part expresses our deep respect for the diversity of living organisms and life itself. We focus on preserving biodiversity, protecting endangered species, and restoring natural habitats.

Why Are We Doing This?

Plastic pollution is a growing problem that threatens our oceans and beaches worldwide. Plastic waste not only pollutes nature but also poses a serious threat to marine life and, ultimately, human health. At ETB, we believe it is our duty to take action and bring about positive change. Our “Adopt a Beach” initiative is a step in that direction.

What Does the Program Entail?

“Adopt a Beach” is a volunteer program aimed at regularly cleaning and monitoring selected coastal areas. Here are the key components of the program:

Initial Focus: We are starting with a 100-meter-long stretch of beach in the Riva/Şile region of Istanbul. Depending on the number of volunteers, we can expand this area.

Regular Activities: Throughout the year, we will organize two to three clean-up and observation events, specifically in April, September, and January.

Community Involvement: We invite volunteers to participate and help clean and maintain the coastline.

Children and Families Are Welcome

An important aspect of “Adopt a Beach” is involving children. By including them in this initiative, we hope to instill the importance of environmental protection and the value of nature. Families can share valuable and educational moments together while contributing to a cleaner environment.
